    buttons not linking to label in frame

    Andrew Pearce
      Hi
      I have buttons put into a movie clip called navigation that is then put into scene 1. In Scene 1 I have frames with labels and I want the buttons to link to Scene one, label whatever. Seems to set up ok but when I click the link it just seems to reload the navigation movie instead of going to the correct frame in Scene 1. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.
      Thanks for any help. By the way, I am using Flash 8 Professional
      (about 1 meg) Here is a link to the flash file

          see whether changing gotoAndPlay to gotoAndStop will help.
          You basically aim at label and run the timeline till the end across
          all the labels by using the gotoAndPlay action. You need to define label
          and stop on that frame.

            Thanks Urami for your reply. I tried changing that and also tried changing the frame label from name to anchor but both didn't work. I have updated the flash file. Apologies if you had a look at that cause I forgot I took off the actions and added another layer in Scene one to handle the buttons. (which works but covers rollovers etc) I have put it back now.

              ok, got it.
              Just like before, change Play to Stop than add _root and remove scene name

              example :

              on (release) {
              _root.gotoAndStop("tour");
              }

              _root refer to main timeline, following by action and target.
              You could as well use _parent instead of _root, it basically take out UP
              one level out the movie clip.

              DO NOT use scene names. Scenes are just blank frames, giving an end to one
              and beginning to another timeline. They are not included in final SWF files,
              think of it more as authoring convenience. That is why you can't target them
              with actions. Now, you can get away sometimes but with complex projects it usually
              fail so better to learn not to use it.
              I guess that's it, change the actions to the above and you good to go.
