    Lan game database and RS232

    Level 7
      Hello:

I have to develop a complicated game in a local area network (1 server and 7
PC's) and in addition to control a data base running in a server and to use
7 RS-232 ports (to see TV and change signal to the PC). Maybe LAN will be
      wireless.
Every client PC must see its own information and some information from
      others PC's.

What tools do I need in Director to obtain this? Where to begin ?
      Xtras and some help please?
      Thank youy very much

That is among the least specific questions ever posted.
Congratulations. It is sort of like asking which letters of the
alphabet you need to use in order to write a sentence. If I were you,
I'd start by identifying which features are "complicated" one at a time.
Then, as you identify each feature, find a way to make it work. For
instance, if you need to write to a hard drive, then check out things
like BuddyAPI or FileIO, pRegEx, etc. If you need database access,
check out Valentina, Datagrip, Arca, SQLite, etc. For multiple users on
different machines needing to synchronize data, look at Nebulae or
            MultiUser xtra, etc.

Here is a great list of many xtras separated by Category:

database connection depends on what type of database. there are several xtras dealing w/ that. a good place to start looking for those would be http://www.mediamacros.com/ but there are a lot of other sources. interfacing the rs-232 dvices is trickier, star w/ a seriall port, see this thread. also need to read up on rs-232 stuff - a good place to start would be this. you would probably use the multiuser server if you network server is windows. flash server is big bucks.
