    Image map issue

    DanOfEarth Level 1
      Hi,

      I tried searching for this on these forums, but the search is giving me an error....

      Am I going crazy or is something amiss. Instead of creating an image map in Fireworks or elsewhere, I decided to try the image map buttons in the prop inspector for Dreamweavor.

      On particularly the Polygonal hotspot button, after I hit it and drop my first point, ready to "click around" the future hotspot area, the "PLEASE ADD THE ALT TEXT FOR IMPAIRED PEOPLE" popup interupts the process. And it won't resume...even if I add the alt text (AGAIN). Plus, the alt text doesn't take when I type it in...it disappears.

      This is driving me crazy! This does this on the rectangle and circle also, but at least they're usable....sorta.

      Does this sound familiar, and what am I doing wrong?!

          Use Google -

          Look at the code. Does your image tag have vspace and hspace attributes?
          If so, remove them. Use CSS to apply margins to the image if necessary.

            I did have a 10px H border, so as you mentioned I removed it, saved, then tried it again. It's still doing it.

              Let's see your code, please.

                Here it is...I have text filler in there for now.....

                <body>

                  Remove this from the <img> tag -

                  border="0" align="left"

                  so that it becomes -

                  <img src="Images/ItalianHilltop.jpg" alt="Italian Hilltop" width="500"
                  height="333" usemap="#Map" />

                  and see if that helps.

                    CS3 has this problem, but I think they may have fixed it in DW CS4. Go to the Accessibility category in preferences and temporarily deselect Images.

                      Ok,

                      Dreamweaver design flaw. I tried both. Yours was a logical guess Murray, but it still hung on me. It should have been something with the image. CaryD, you were right.

                      I cleared the preference, and it stopped pooping up the message (yeah...I typed pooping). However, the Polygonal Hotspot tool is now REALLY useless. The click points won't show, nor can I click back on the hotspot after I complete it. Strangely, it records all the code behind the scenes on the points when you switch to code-mode, but doesn't acknowledge the hotspot what-so-ever in design mode, though the rectangle and circle do.

                      I'm surprised that hasn't come up in the forums before...all Dreamweaver hotspot tools being useless. Lol. I guess nobodies' dusted off those buttons yet. :)
