    stroke

    Level 7
I am trying to move from Photoshop to Fireworks.
I want to use stroke, this has the no stroke as default. How do I change
      this please?

In the 'Property Inspector you should see an icon of a pencil, if you have
no stroke selected it will have a white box with a red slash across it,
click the box and select the colour you want, select the type of stroke you
want from the drop down menu next to it.

Property Inspector, Pencil tool, no white box.
Tools menu, pencil has white box with red slash, selecting this gives colour
menu - I haven't yet seen a drop down menu

If you are attempting to add a stroke to a bitmap, you won't see a
stroke color box in the PI. Strokes only work for vector objects. If you
need to add a stroke to a bitmap, use either an adjusted inner or outer
Glow effect, or the Outer bevel effect.

And you should really kill that Photoshop habit... it is harmful to your
                  productivity... ;-)
