    bitmap variable killing another??

      Hi. This is my first post here so I hope you can help me :)

      I'm a newcomer to flash and I'm trying to make a preloader. I succeeded doing a simple one which does nothing but counting up a variable. Now, the next step is to make a more functional one.

      In the first frame of a layer I call "actions", I've set up:
      var x = 0;
      var y = 0;
      That works fine, and my preloader runs perfectly. The problem occurs when I add variables for loading a bitmap.
      Instead of outputting the values of the variables in my textbox, it outputs "NaN". Therefore I think something is killing my variables.
      I've tried to comment out pieces of my code to identify the messing line. I found it, and it looks like this:
      var bitmap:BitmapData = new BitmapData(mc._width, mc._height, true);

      I don't have a clue what to do to solve this, so now I rely on you!
      Thanks in advance
