    Trouble organising multiple sounds...

    Redoli2
      Hey there

      Ive got 2 sound files (on different layers), and i wanted one on a volume of say 75%, and the other on 35%. Whenever i change the sound volume on one, the other changes as well! how do i solve this?
      Thanks

          they are 2 different imported files?
          how are you changing the volume? though acrionScript? if so what *is* the AS? Paste it here or at
          least explain in detail how you have done what you have done so far.

            basically, this is the script for the begining of the scene:

            sonic = new Sound();
            sonic.attachSound("4_aiz_act2.mp3");
            sonic.setVolume(75);

            then later on, this is to change the volume:

            sonic.setVolume(40);

            but i wanted a different sound (different imported sound) to play at a different level

            pipe = new Sound();
            pipe.attachSound("Pipe Warp.wav");
            pipe.setVolume (50);

            so i have two different imported sound files, and i wanted them at different volumes

              well you have 1 sound set at 40 and the other to 50 - very very little discernable difference - how
              do you know they are at the exact same volume? and if so are they both at 40 or 50?

                well i just keep experimenting with the sound levels, i.e. one at 70 and one at 10 for instance, and they'll both play at the same level for some bizarre reason...

                (They play at the level that the sonic sound is set to)

                  The problem you report always happen unless you attach the sounds to specific movie clips.

                  Do it like this:

                  this.createEmptyMovieClip("sonic_mc", this.getNextHighestDepth());
                  sonic = new Sound(sonic_mc);
                  sonic.attachSound("4_aiz_act2.mp3");
                  sonic.setVolume(75);

                  Do the equivalent for your other sounds. You will now be able to control the volumes separately.
