1. use updateAftervent()
2. to remove hand cursor
ok - the .useHandCursor = false; property worked fine, but I'm still having trouble with flash letting me click on my buttons.
Check out the page here: http://www.hollyworx.com/news.html (it's about 1 meg, so give it a few seconds to load)
click and drag to navigate (i'm gonna work on usability, and letting the user know how to navigate, and a simple load progress bar as soon as i get all this figured out), and when you see the "sticky tabs", those are supposed to be buttons that take you to elsewhere on the page.
is my only option to put the buttons on a separate layer that tracks with the movie clip i'm clicking and draging? if so, that's a pain, but ok.
nevermind - i just threw _alpha = 0 versions of the buttons into a different movie clip, and had it track with the movable one using onEnterFrame().
So - problem solved. Though if there was a better way, I'd still love to hear about it!
If you want to disable a button then:
myButton.enabled = false
This will also turn off the hand cursor.
