    getURL problem

    khuti2005
      i have my movie with a movie clip which inside has another moview clip but this one has a getURL() function on it. however nothing happens when i click this. im 99% sure its correct, as ive also got other movieclips ins this movie that work.

      ive gone over this soooo many times now and cant find a problem. my files are in the same folder/directory and ive like looked over the spellings 1000 times!! and nothing appears to be wrong. flash even says that there is no errors.

      im dying for sum help because this is making my hair fall out lol!!

      so if anyone thinks they can help me id really appreciate it, thanks..

          Would you post the code you're using? Maybe a second set of eyes would
          help.

              on(release){
              getURL('gov.html');
              }

              --------------------------

              thats on the movieclip i want it to work on. so coz its inside another movieclip that dont effect it in sum way no?

                o sorry to secs ill upload the .fla

                --

                .fla file <--- here it is...

                ---

                by the way u need to hide the top images layer first so u can see the white circles of the sub menu movie clips. the work ive been working on is the 3 one across from the left under lgv :)

                  khuti2005,

                  > on(release){
                  > getURL('gov.html');
                  > }

                  So far, so good -- unless something else is "blocking asscess" to this
                  event handler.

                  > thats on the movieclip i want it to work on. so coz its
                  > inside another movieclip that dont effect it in sum way no?

                  The outer movie clip would affect it *if* the outer movie clip also has
                  an on(release) event handler. Doe it? Does if have any mouse handlers?

                    nope it doesnt however there is one that when click tells this one to play up to a point. which makes the menu drop down. ive checked all frames that the button is on tho to check i havent a point tho. so when the menu drops n stops the buttons there should be set ready to open window on click but dont :(

                      hi
                      thank for your code.
                      i found where you are doing mistake.
                      As David Stiller told, you have put ,

                      on(rollOut){
                      this.gotoAndPlay(9);
                      }

                      in all the submenus.
                      So, the flash will consider the whole moviclip as a single button.
                      So, you should omit that code there....

                        oh nuts.. sorry so i did.. so this should solve it?? cool great ill get to it, thanks guys.. really appreciate it!!

                        ill have to think of another way round the on rollout then.. tho from the other part ive done i dont think that is necessary anyway.

                        thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                        :D
