    Publish settings in Flash 8

      AAAARGH!

      Can someone please help me?!?! After finishing a web page in Flash 8, I've put the publish settings to have my Flash page align to top/center of my HTML page but when I launch it in the browser, it stays align in top left corner. And this, what ever I change in the settings, keeps exactly the same. So I figured it would be something to change or add in the HTML code but I'm a bit lost in that area. Here's the code (if I've copied the right part) :

      <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
      <!--
      var hasRightVersion = DetectFlashVer(requiredMajorVersion, requiredMinorVersion, requiredRevision);
      if(hasRightVersion) { // if we've detected an acceptable version
      var oeTags = '<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"'
      + 'width="750" height="550"'
      + 'codebase=" http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab">'
      + '<param name="movie" value="earth.swf" /><param name="loop" value="false" /><param name="quality" value="medium" /><param name="salign" value="t" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#4e4e27" />'
      + '<embed src="earth.swf" loop="false" quality="medium" salign="t" bgcolor="#4e4e27" '
      + 'width="750" height="550" name="earth" align="middle"'
      + 'play="true"'
      + 'loop="false"'
      + 'quality="high"'
      + 'allowScriptAccess="sameDomain"'
      + 'type="application/x-shockwave-flash"'
      + 'pluginspage=" http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer">'
      + '<\/embed>'
      + '<\/object>';
      document.write(oeTags); // embed the flash movie
      } else { // flash is too old or we can't detect the plugin
      var alternateContent = 'Alternate HTML content should be placed here.'
      + 'This content requires the Macromedia Flash Player.'
      + '<a href=http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflash/>Get Flash</a>';
      document.write(alternateContent); // insert non-flash content
      }
      // -->
      </script>

      So can somebody help me to realy align my .swf file to the top/center of my web page? Thanks.

          Hi
          I never use the publish HTML-settings in Flash.
          I have never seen them work properly. I always edit the html-page.
          I create a table with the same width as the .swf. and the copy and past the .swf into the table.
          I use Dreamweaver doing this.

          This is an example of html-code where the .swf is centered and top-aligned. In fact it is
          rigth at the top of the html-page since the margins are set to "0".

          <BODY bgcolor="#003399" leftmargin="0" topmargin="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0">
          <table width="310" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" align="center">
          <tr>
          <td><object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
          codebase=" http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0"
          width="310" height="210" id="snow" align="">
          <param name=movie value="snow.swf">
          <param name=menu value=false>
          <param name=quality value=high>
          <param name=bgcolor value=#003399>
          <embed src="snow.swf" menu=false quality=high bgcolor=#003399 width="310" height="210" name="snow" align=""
          type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage=" http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer">
          </embed>
          </object></td>
          </tr>
          </table>

          So I guess you need to learn some HTML or get a "decent" editor to make it work the way you want to.
