Not all Fonts showing in FW 4.02

    HandHeldSound
I just got a new laptop and reinstalled FW 4.02.
I noticed that not all my fints are showing up. The list ends in the 'M's
Other programs like Word and such can see all the fonts.

Any thoughts on what is going on?

      Thanks,

      Eitan

          Eitan,

Just a guess, but I am thinking that your screen resolution is not
allowing you to see the bottom of the Fonts window so you can scroll the
          list.

If it ends in the M's, I wonder if there is a practical limit. I think
there used to be a limit of somewhere around 500 or 512 in Windows and it
would just be a guess that Windows programs may have had a practical limit
            as well.

              I believe it's 600.

                Linda,

Do you know how it's determined which fonts to display, assuming the 600
limit has been met? If I wanted a particular font to display but it doesn't
because of the limitation, I can't just delete one and hope the one I want
is next in line? Appreciate your input.

I wish I could help you there. I really don't know. I suspect that one
of the ways is to not display all the variations of each font family
rather than discard whole families. There's a workaround though (isn't
there always? :-)) If you use font organizing software, like Font Expert
or X-Fonter, you can open a font folder with it. Open Fireworks, then,
and all the fonts listed by the font organizing software will show up in
Fireworks font menu. Even though they are not installed, you'll be able
to use them because they have been loaded in Windows memory. I don't
know if this work on Mac OS.

Thats good advice, thanks! I'll investigate Font Expert/X-Fonter. Like
shoes, you can never have too many fonts!
