This is probably a big problem for many. I have a client that
is unable to view our website because they are not allowed by the
system to install things, thry need admin privaleges. The detection
script works fine but then they are unable to install the latest
player. Is there any way around this other than hoping their
administrator will install it for them?
Not that I know of. Our IT people actually have to setup an
installation wrapper for us. What is does when it runs is to login
to the current system as an admin, installs the program and then
logs out. It does all of this without having to restart the
machine, etc. Not sure if your client has something similar in
their IT department but it took about a year for us to get ours to
do this on a regular basis for Flash Player updates.
