I have devleoped a video player which plays videos in a
playlist which have been encoded into .flv files. I'm wondering
what the advantage is to that over using an embedded windows media
player instead. Right now I have to take a .wmv file and encode it
into a .flv file, then upload the .flv in order to play it. Why not
just upload the .wmv and play it with an embedded media player?
Documentation I have read seems to indicate that the better way is
to use .flv, but I was wondering if I could get a specific
reason(s) for why .flv is better to use than embedded media player.
Thanks for any insight.
Thanks for the reply. After reading I'm still not sure, but I
think I'll stick with .flv. Which leads to another quesiton. I'm
currently using the encoder with Flash 8 Professional. It takes
quite a long time to encode vidoes. I was hoping to find an encoder
which would be faster. I've downloaded two different trial versions
of encoders and each time I try to use them, I get an error saying
basically "ffmpeg has encountered an error and must close." Any
idea why that is happening? Do you have any recommendations for the
best tool to use to encode videos to .flv? Thanks
