    Null/Not Null

This is a simple (I think) MySQL question. If I indicate a table column as "Null," does that mean it can never have a value? I always use "Not Null" for every column since it's assumed a form will be filled out in its entirety. However, recently I created a form (using the Insert Record Form Wizard) in which the address and a couple other fields are not required. If a user leaves the address blank, for example, I get Error: SQL error: Column 'address' cannot be null.

But since it's not a REQUIRED field, shouldn't it be okay that it's empty?

So simply, is it okay for table columns associated with form fields that are NOT required to have a "Null" status in the database?
