The later would produce a get request like http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messagepost.cfm, not shouwing the ?postaction and &forumid parameter. (if entered manually).
Because i can access the url in flex via Application.application.url and evaluate all parameters on my own, what i'm missing is a way to set those ?postaction or &forumid parameters from within flex *without* reloading the flex application.

The closest it offers is setFragment:
Changes the fragment of the URL after the '#' in the browser.
