A lot of your artwork was not in the Zip file. What was native to the
file itself (not linked) opened just fine for me.

Yes Jim, there is missing content of many of the layers. They will be filled up as i get original content from other people. I will then drag those files on to those layers as I have done with the other layers that already has content. I got an mail from Adobe asking me about versions of the software and the files. its version 11 of photoshop and 10.0.0.495 on Fireworks. I am on OS X 10.5.6

Maybe you can try to embed all the external files instead of linking those files.
It seems that Fireworks can not read the linked files inside of Illustrator correctly.
