OLE method to save pdf as text?

Hello. I am trying to find out if there is an API method in acrobat (7.0 full, or Reader) that can be used to save a pdf file as text. I have learned that there is a way to do this in Javascript, but I am trying to batch convert a number of files on a local directory, and Javascript is not well suited for dealing with local directories and files.

So I want to script this in Perl with its OLE facilities. There is a known way to do it with Perl, but it saves a print image of the page. I want the format I get when I save as text from the Acrobat file menu (not the same thing).

I've hunted around in the API docs and I can't find anything. There is a SaveAs method (I think under PDDoc) but it doesn't seem to offer any way to specify the file type, which defaults to pdf. There is also a MenuItemExecute method, but again it offers no way to specify the text type for Save As.

Can anyone suggest a way to do this?

      Thanks in advance...Steve
