    Auto Date script

      I have a form that I'm using a document level javascript to populate one field with the date.

      What I need it to do is populate the field ONCE with the date from the day that the form is filled out, and then save it.

      What I don't want is to have the date adjust every time the document is opened.

      I know NOTHING about scripts, and I got this script from another post that I thought sounded like what I was looking to do. Unfortunately, this script causes the date to update to the current date whenever the file is opened.

      Here's the script:

      function Initialize() { // define action
      this.getField("todaysDate").value = util.printd("mmmm dd, yyyy", new Date());
      return true;
      } // end Initialize function

      Initialize(); // call action
