Acrobat 8 Pro- Converting Absolute Links to Relative for DVD

I am using Acrobat 8 Pro on a G5 iMac with Mac OS Leopard. I am doing a project where after I link pictures to an external file, they need to open a the file in a separate window. It is fine doing this while on the network, but one the pdf document is taken of the network, the links are broken and cannot find the files.

My question is, is it best to write a script using JavaScript to convert the absolute links to relative? If so, can anyone give me an example of what to do since I am new to designing in Acrobat and Javascript in general. Or, would it be easier to just copy the whole folder to a Data DVD-R/W and link the files to the pdf once copied to the DVD? This process will need to be done many times, so I need to come up with an efficient way to do this where it won't need to take much time to repeat the process every time I do it.

If there are any other better options, please list them as well.

Thank you for your time in advance,
