    where is the site definitions?

I had to reformat my hard drive, but I do have a backup. I re-installed DW-CS4, and would like to restore the site definitions, as I have several and don't want to have to start from scratch.

Too bad you didn't ask here before doing this. You may be out of luck, as
DW stores the definitions in the Registry. Did you export them before
          reformatting?

I did not export them, but my backup is on a removable drive and is in an image file which I can restore individual files. I do have another drive which I can restore the whole image to a working drive.

The problem is that the site definitions (not the site files - the
DEFINITIONS for the site) are saved in the Windows Registry, and to get at
them, you need to boot from the drive (there are utilities that might help
you - I cannot vouch for them, though). If you have not exported them and
saved the export files, you will have to redefine each site, most likely.
