You can certainly do it by treating the script file as a text file, opening it, reading it, manipulating it, and saving it back.
I haven't tried direct scripting of ESTK 2, but I don't think there's much support for it.
Unbelievable, I opened ESTK2. Pressed ctrl F and what happened ?
It looks like you delved a little to deep into this one ;).
Actually ESTK 2 can be automated via ScriptUI's MenuElement I believe, it's just that there's no way to dismiss a dialog via the script.
MenuElement.find( "edit/findReplace" ).notify();
I hope ESTK CS4 has more support.
Ah, I was talking about scripting the editing of the a script. You're talking about using the built-in Find/Change. Golden rules:
1. Always check Preferences -- there might be something there that helps you avoid the behavior you find annoying.
2. Look at every menu. Make sure you know what all the possible windows are and how to access them.
