    Coordinates in InDesign

    Polarbeer101
      Hi!

Is it possible to get coordinates for a specific element in InDesgin?

I need the coordinates on a page for example a tagged word or image.

      Regards,
      Lars

          Yes.

For page items, use geometric bounds (or visible bounds).

For text, use baseline and horizontal offset.

            you need to use GeometricBounds:

            Property GeometricBounds As Variant
            Member of InDesign.Rectangle
The bounds of the Rectangle excluding the stroke width, in the format [y1, x1, y2, x2], which give the coordinates of the top-left and bottom-right corners of the bounding box. as Array of 4 Units (Doubles or Strings)

and this is easy for graphics objects - rectangle, image, oval, textframe, etc.

for text - you need to play with Baseline and HorizontalOffset:

            Property Baseline As Variant
            read-only
            Member of InDesign.Text
The vertical offset of the text. as Unit (Double or String)

            Property HorizontalOffset As Variant
            read-only
            Member of InDesign.Text
The horizontal offset of the text. as Unit (Double or String)
