Transitioning from PageMaker Scripts - Help Needed

    rpollack-2 Level 1
We will be transitioning from PageMaker to InDesign shortly.

I did an evaluation for my employer, and based on my recommendations we will soon be upgrading. I used Trial version of ID CS3 for my eval. but we will be purchasing ID CS4 in the next week or so.

There are several scripts that originally came with the PageMaker 6.52 install. I am searching for equivalent scripts.

First, we will need a script to remove all unused styles.

Also, PageMaker Scripting which was on the original PM install CD included a script called "Style Info". This is a nice script that basically creates a style book. It lists all styles in the document, and provides all the properties (attributes) of each style.

Also, years ago, I downloaded a script called "CopyFile". This is a very useful script that "copies" a document. Many people might say, "why not just use "save as". Interestingly enough, "copy" a document is not the same. When you "copy" a document, you are copying only the elements that are in the document. For example, using a "save as" will duplicate everything in the document, including unused styles. On the other hand, "copying" the document as this script works, only the elements in the document are "copied and pasted", page by page... thus all unused styles are left behind in the old document.

So, is there a script for InDesign that "recreates" a new document, page by page and leaves all unused and anomially elements behind?

Thanks for any help in our transition period.

And I thought I was the last one. Congratulations.

I'm kind of in the same boat, except I lost of track of which ones
came with PageMaker and which ones I made myself. In either event I
want to get them converted to InDesign in the relatively near future.

In this forum they want you to say which language you're using or want
to use: AppleScript (Mac), JavaScript (Mac/Windows), or VBScript
(Windows). I opted for AppleScript and am now unsubscribing here,
where there's so much JavaScript, in order to stay concentrated on
that. I'll still be in AppleScript-Users and the InDesign Lasso group,
and would be very interested in an InDesign AppleScripters group if
one existed or were set up at Yahoo or wherever. You or anyone else
can write me if you're interested in that, my address is roymccoy dot
          nl at gmail dot com.
