Supress error when there is no property

Mac OS X and InDesign CS3, using javascript.

I am working with large number of links in layout and I need to make a simple preflight in XML or text form only with information that we need, not like the built-in preflight.

      Problem.
When I try to get a property EPS.actualPpi from EPS that is rasterized, it's available. When it's EPS with curves, it says: "A value is not available for this type of image".

So, how to avoid/suppress error, or check if the property is available or not?

I have tried using the XMP data and check property "format". There is information if EPS is postscript or image type. But what if EPS does not have XMP data?

      Thanks.
