AS adobe handler to trigger AppleScript?

I'm building a production work flow app (basically a database with a web interface) for our magazine production. But I would like to expand it so that the designers can update and view item status' within Indesign.

Is there a way I can have an action, say import a file, act as a trigger for an XCode app to launch or something similar?

My gut feeling is that I am looking at building a plugin, haven't done that before but wouldn't mind giving it a shot...any web tutorials on building plugins would also be appreciated!

Have a look in the documentation.

--
Shane Stanley <sstanley@myriad-com.com.au>
