    Can Director do this?

    PMUdesign
I have a project that I'd like to try in Director, but I'm not sure if it can do it. Attached is an illustration to give you an idea what I'm talking about. Basically, I need to have a moveable object "B" that is connected (tethered) to a semi-fixed object "A". The whole thing takes place in zero gravity, so basically you "fly" object "B" around, but it's movements are restricted by the tether. Is this possible to do, and if so could you give me a rough idea of what is involved? Thanks!

Yes, it is possible you need some mathematics(geometry, vectors..) and physics(collisions, bounding objects..). Lingo supports vectors and also some collisions, but I'd rather use own collision detection (and coll. response of course). This take some time to finish. I have exams in schools these days, but maybe I can help you after I finish my school.

Thanks Juroo. I did some searching, and saw some posts that indicate that Havok has some nice ragdoll physics, so I was hoping something like this might be possible. I probably won't get started on this until later this month, so no rush. A link to my email address is on my website: http://www.pmudesign.com/

Hi. Yes, this is possible with Havok xtra. You can link some springs or
dashpots and achieve that effect. Heres a more complex example with
              source code:

              Good luck,
