    Library Item assistance!

    Library_Jackie

I am creating a very simple website with a banner on each page to direct my patrons. I am having a problem, however, with my library item that I created as the banner. When I make the page I first make a box with the layout area and then insert a cell and drag in the banner. Then, I make another cell and enter in my information. The problem is once I save the library item and update it and refresh I can ONLY see the library item in the design mode. This has the same affect on each page I created using the library banner on top. The other information is THERE, I can see it in the code and when I push F12 it all shows up, only I can't change anything in the design mode because I can't get to anything. Am I making sense? I find it hard to describe my problems with the appropriate dreamweaver vocabulary.
THANK YOU THANK YOU to anyone who can assist. I have called everyone I know who works with dreamweaver and no onw seems to have any idea what I am talking about.

This is usually the symptom of an improperly made Library item, meaning that
your Library item contains <html>, <head>, and <body> tags, as well as the
page into which it's being inserted. DW just doesn't know what to do with
          that broken code.

To create a well formed Library item, build your page, select the elements
you want to be in the Library item, and use MODIFY | Library > Add Object to
Library. Is that how you did it?

So, just to clarify, I should make my page and then insert the library item.
OR make my page, make the banner from scratch again and modify it to library item? I am a bit confused. Is there a way I can change the code of the already created pages so I may see them in design mode? delete some of the heads and bodys or something?

            THANK YOU for your help.

Make a page with the banner as desired. Select the banner, and use MODIFY |
              Add object to library.

Then open another page where you want the banner to appear, click where you
want the banner to appear, and using the Library category of the Assets
panel, select the banner Library item, and click Insert.

This method will always give you a well-formed Library item.

Yes - you could do this as well. Can you show me the code within this *.lbi
file, please? That way, I can tell you what needs to go....
