1. Re: transparent psd leaves edges when saved as PRESS pdf

be a visual effect.

2. Re: transparent psd leaves edges when saved as PRESS pdf
lister110@hotmail.com Jun 3, 2008 1:29 PM (in response to lister110@hotmail.com)no, its not the overprint preview. I have even opened the pdf file in photoshop after and there is an edge made of all colours showing up.
I have tried the same psd placed as a link in Illustrator CS3 and saved the pdf file as PRESS (Without flattening) and the problem is still there.
any more ideas??

3. Re: transparent psd leaves edges when saved as PRESS pdf
lister110@hotmail.com Jun 3, 2008 1:45 PM (in response to lister110@hotmail.com)maybe its something to do with CS2 to CS3 psd files. I mean the original logo(type) was created in CS2 and then flattened to a transparent layer. But now we're saving the pdf file through indesign CS3
anyone had problems with older psd files (previously CS2) -

(Jon_Bessant) Jun 3, 2008 2:17 PM (in response to lister110@hotmail.com)lister,
I'll be honest, Photoshop and Illustrator are probably my weakest CS
apps - although I do know about the rules of engagement with transparency.
*Why* do you require to keep the transparency live in this instance if
the output is correct with a flattened PDF/X-1a file? I'm cringing as I
type since I'm a 100% believer in live content and not removing data
along the way ... but in your instance you have a workaround - right?
(plus it seems the problem lies within other CS apps but we like to try
and tackle all here ;-) )

5. Re: transparent psd leaves edges when saved as PRESS pdf
lister110@hotmail.com Jun 4, 2008 1:00 AM (in response to lister110@hotmail.com)we like to keep the file live for our printers to handle the flattening there side. It just seems really odd this line appears around the graphic.
It seems to be original CS2 file and then brought into CS3 indesign and a press pdf file made.
Even if I take the CS2 PSD and copy the layer into a new PS CS3 document and recreate the pdf it still shows up???
