Acrobat or Digital Editions?

I purchased a copy of Adobe PhotoshopCS3-CIB from amazon.com. I am able to
read the book using Adobe Digital Editions (after some initial hassle!) but
prefer using Acrobat 8 Pro.

Although the downloaded eBook file is in pdf-format, Acrobat does not seem able
to open it.

I also have (from an earlier download, cannot remember how) the same book in a
zip file containing a welcom.pdf and files with the lessons. I can open the
welcome.pdf using Acrobat 8 Pro, but cannot access the lessons.

Can I read this book with Acrobat?
If so, how?
Help is much appreciated.

Acrobat 8 Pro and Adobe Reader 8 no longer have any facilities for
reading this kind of eBook. It is locked to Digital Editions (and,
too, locked to the one computer on which you purchased it).

There is talk in the Digital Editions forum of improving Digital
Editions, but I don't see any talk of this function rejoining
Acrobat/Reader.

Thank you. I was not aware of there being a forum dedicated to Digital
Editions.
Will go and browse there!

So there is no way to read an e-book type PDF with Reader 8.0? The pdf file/book I downloaded isn't compatible with Digital Editions. Is there any way to read it?

What does the ebook supplier say it is compatible with?

They say it is compatible with Reader 6.02 and above. But that it is not compatible with Reader 8 or Digital Editions. Is there a place I can get a version earlier than Reader 8? Then again- it annoys me that I may have to.

Reader 8 does not do ebooks, but I don't know why it would be
incompatible with Digital Editions: you should let the publisher know
you are disappointed.

Reader 7:

Select Windows 2000 SP2.
