(Jeffrey_Huyck) Feb 5, 2009 2:29 PM (in response to davemachews)I've had the same problem since switching to CS4. Using Fetch to upload a flash gallery- when viewing it locally, it looks fine, but after upload and accessing it on line, only a shell of the gallery is visible. Just completed an upload of same gallery direct through Bridge, and it works fine. Looks like something in the gallery production has reference to specific folder structure (i.e. your hd/subfolder/gallery), which doesn't translate when copying site folder with an FTP program. Making the gallery and transferring it all through Bridge seems to eliminate that problem. -
4. Re: Bridge CS4 and Web Gallery upload - blank page issue
Ann Shelbourne Feb 5, 2009 3:33 PM (in response to davemachews)If you make the Gallery in Bridge; and Save it from Bridge into a designated named folder on your HD; and then Upload that folder and its complete contents to your Site (without changing the names of anything); it should work.
It certainly does for me. -

Also, I tried to upload via Bridge, but my file folder was nowhere to be found!!

Do you have GoLive?
I use the Site Management tools in that to open my site on my ISP's Server and then I just Drag-Copy the complete Gallery folder across.
Your problem may be related to the protocols used by your ISP.
Do they provide tools for you to use to manage your Site? (Like iPower, for example, does.) -
8. Re: Bridge CS4 and Web Gallery upload - blank page issue
(dave_wilder) Mar 10, 2009 1:36 PM (in response to davemachews)I've had the same problem: Mac OS 10.5.6; PS CS4 11.0.1.
Fixed now. Is it the update? Don't know, but I do not use Fetch.
Using only the Bridge upload. Takes longer, so I leave the room - It now works: http://wilddave.com/bayne/wood2009/
Didn't work here: http://wilddave.com/bayne/adobe%20samples%201/
Same show - files are the same size, but I didn't examine the code.
Conclusion: Maybe fixed in PS 11.0.1; maybe fixed by using only Bridge upload. Both my hosting company (ipower.com) and Adobe looked at earlier versions - both pointed to each other -ha!
Also, I reinstalled CS3 web galleries. Not that hard to do and still good to have, just in case. -
9. Re: Bridge CS4 and Web Gallery upload - blank page issue
(greg_geisler) Mar 20, 2009 6:03 AM (in response to davemachews)It's a permissions issue. You should be able to use Fetch (I use Transmit but I assume most ftp apps have this feature) to set the permissions for all of the files to 755 or rwxr-xr-x. In Transmit there is the option to "Apply to enclosed items..." so you can simply select a folder and apply it to everything inside of it instead of doing the files one by one. Once you have done this your gallery will work remotely. Bridge evidently sets these permissions differently based on whether you are saving them locally or uploading them from the application. You don't have to edit any of the files it creates, only the permissions for those files. -

engagede Apr 2, 2009 4:32 PM (in response to davemachews)i uploaded a saved gallery using fetch and it works fine
i had bridge upload directly and it didnt work
i then checked the permissions on both galleries on my server and each file or folder had identical permissions some 755 and others 644 so why would one be viewable and the other not -
12. Re: Bridge CS4 and Web Gallery upload - blank page issue
davemachews Apr 9, 2009 8:10 PM (in response to engagede)Hello guys,
I managed to solved my problem.
The issue has something to do with the type of server that your web host is using. My server, unfortunately, uses some type of UNIX server which is not compatible with the Web Gallery upload feature of this Bridge CS4.
So you may want to verify this information first with your web host and see if that will be the issue.

13. Re: Bridge CS4 and Web Gallery upload - blank page issue
RodrigoBlanco Apr 12, 2009 7:34 AM (in response to (dave_wilder))I use Mac OX 10.5.6, CS4 11.01 and Fetch 5.3.1. First I called Adobe and they said it was the "hidden" files that Mac OS X creates, for example .DS and _DS. Adobe said that when you called the index.html file with your browser, these files pop first because they have the . and _ character first (dot and underscore). Also said that since the site was hosted in a Windows based server andSo, being a Mac Geek, I open in the Mac Terminal>_ the option to see the hidden files in the Mac in every folder where the web galleries were being created. Not a single hidden file. So I called Godaddy (hosting my site) and told them what was going on. They switched (for Free) the hosting from a Windows based server to a Linux (Unix) based server and nothing. Then I just tried using Bridge upload option and it does works. I will post any other details of my research. Thanks for illustrating the rest of us!

fotodog13 May 12, 2009 7:44 AM (in response to davemachews)I am having the same problem as everyone else.
I have tried changing the permissions which made no difference.
tried to load from Bridge to the server which also did nothing.
And have tried using fetch to load the directory unachanged as it
is made from bridge to my desktop.
I am on an Apache/Linux server
Adobe seems to offer little if any help with this issue
They should have left well enough alone rather than releasing a
program upgrade that obviously does not work correctly.
If anyone has figured this out I would love to hear what they
had to do
Its a shame that Adobe seems to care less about this issue
as it is a major flaw with the program, customer support seems to
be non-exsistent with this matter.

15. Re: Bridge CS4 and Web Gallery upload - blank page issue
Stoqq.com May 13, 2009 2:24 PM (in response to davemachews)It's a permissions Issue for me too. For some reason CS4 Bridge seems to give directories a permission of 755 (correct for me) and the individual files in all directories a permissions value of 660 (wrong for me! I need 644). So, in my FTP app CyberDuck, I changed all the individual files permissions to 644 after I uploaded. My host is bluehost.com.

Adobe has been unable to help me with this problem. They told me it was from my server.
Has anyone ever been able to make a website using bridge?
Here is my test site:

This is what my server responded to me when I approached them with the issue.
the path to the xml file is not correct. so im thinking they missed a
step on the setup. or something got moved. who knows.i downloaded the whole thing locally to test and it wont work on my
system either. again there is an xml file that references the images
that is not being loaded by the index.html page....which is located here:

all files to 755 and directories to 644 before you try testing. Are you on

Stoqq.com May 18, 2009 12:18 PM (in response to Erin Patrice)I do it after I upload the site to my server. (I use CuteFTP for upload).
Right click the folder you want to change perms on and then select the Get
Info... (or equivalent command) and then change permissions - include the
recursive command checkbox. I change everything to 755 and then go back
and change the subdirectories themselves (not their contents) to 644. Or
you could do it through the finder. This widget may help

23. Re: Bridge CS4 and Web Gallery upload - blank page issue
gbaerial Jun 9, 2009 12:34 PM (in response to davemachews)Don't try to upload from the Bridge. Check "Save to Disk", and create a file in the root folder of your website. Save the Gallery there. Next, create a link from your website's "Index" page (or wherever you want it), and have this link point to the "index" in the folder you created. I select "blank" in the Target box in Dreamweaver's Properties Manager.
Upload the Web Gallery folder to your server. When you click on the link (in my case, the main site's Index page), the Web Gallery opens in a new window.

Antinet Jul 6, 2009 1:13 PM (in response to davemachews)More clowning from Adobe in CS4, a release that should put the leaders of this so-called software company in the breadlines yesterday...
I cant believe how much buggy garbage there in is these applications...I know how to upload my folders directly through fetch and how to link. I have thousands of links both straight HTML and from inside of flash frontpages. Never have I had this problem before. I guess Adobe thinks its cool to release whatever they feel like, regardless of the standards of host servers, which I admit knowing little about. Checked the set permissions in FEtch, ands its set to 755, with read by everyone the standard. Once again, Adobe will tell me, well, its some problem on your side. NO, the problem is the utter garbage you released...Guess its back to CS3 web galleries. THANKS ADOBE, FOR DESTROYING A CENTRALLY CRITICAL PART OF YOUR SOFTWARE IN CS4 YET AGAIN!!!!! GLAD I SPENT ALL THAT TIME CHECKING COLORS IN BRIDGE AND BUILDING THESE SLIDE SHOWS!!!

25. Re: Bridge CS4 and Web Gallery upload - blank page issue
Taj Pahmal Grandhi Jul 26, 2009 3:23 PM (in response to RodrigoBlanco)that's correct - had the exact same issue - I tried to change the permissions using Fetch, to no avail. Tried a few different uploads with test flash galleries using Fetch and Cyberduck. All these ended showing blank page result... I tried through Bridge CS4 after running all updates and verifying disk permissions (disk utility) This was done from a G5 and then from my old PowerBook G4. Same blank output. So I saved everything in a file and uploaded it through Dreamweaver...right on it worked beautifully.
Thanks to all for your input and your help on this forum.
Have a nice life!

Taj Pahmal Grandhi Jul 27, 2009 1:09 AM (in response to Ramón G Castañeda)I am sure Adobe will fix this as it should be possible to upload galleries right from Bridge. I am sure there are currently many other ways around this, other softwares, ftp, I hear for some Bridge worked.
I see the positive side of life you know. Bridge is still really useful form e even if this feature if off for now. And I learned something in Dreamweaver too so what can I ask more.

Bridge Dev and QE team is investigating this issue. so far, we had some results from all of your post.
for people who use fetch to do upload, please remember to set your transfer type to "Binary", please do not use "ASCII" as transfer mode.
once you switch to Binary, it should work.
thanks!

30. Re: Bridge CS4 and Web Gallery upload - blank page issue
gbaerial Sep 1, 2009 8:41 AM (in response to BridgeQE)We have to remember how Dreamweaver works. Since Dreamweaver 8, when you build a page with images and upload it, the pages are blank except for text. The images have to be uploaded separately form the "Image folder." (or whatever you call it.) The page then references the images in the folder.
I think that the problem with Bridge may be that the Web Gallery is uploaded and the images are in a file that is not recognized.
There is no standard web hosting system. Earlier this year, I switched hosts and had to rename and redirect pages and images in both of my sites.
It took three days because of incompetent Tech Support. Finally a supervisor said the magic words, and I was up and running.

BridgeQE Sep 7, 2009 3:23 AM (in response to davemachews)Hi, Dear Adobe Bridge Users:
as I post that we want to see whether the blank page issue is caused by the upload type setting when you do FTP in Fetch.
so may I request your help to verify this, no matter what FTP client tool you used, please remember to set the type as Binary, NOT ASCII.
it would be highly appreciated if you can reply me in the forum.
thanks!

33. Re: Bridge CS4 and Web Gallery upload - blank page issue
Roberto Soncin Gerometta Oct 31, 2009 2:56 PM (in response to BridgeQE)Dear Tony Wu,
Let me sum up the issue here.
Most of my web galleries upload fine, others don't, it is a random thing. The files are on the server, but they don't show up properly, no thumbnails, frozen loading etc. Only clicking on the back arrow causes the photos to appear. Not right
All the galleries have the same permission - 771- so it is not a permission issue
Transmit has an auto type as default, and even when you specify Binary some galleries don't load properly - so it is not a type issue
I would say that when a customer pays $700 for Photoshop, he or she should expect the software to work flawlessy, and support to be real support, and not some sort of self help tool. I think Adobe should make public the fact that there is a problem with the web galleries, and work day and night to fix it
Sincerely,
Roberto

Amit-Dhawan Feb 5, 2010 6:32 PM (in response to (Alysa_Brennan))Solution of this problem is very easy, first don't use any FTP software just because while uploading files the FTP software encode files which might not be compatible with Web Server, the simple solution is to use a Web Designing software which has the capabilities and most of them do have to upload the website files to the server (for example Dreamweaver, Golive etc.) This should solve your problem!

gbaerial Feb 6, 2010 12:09 PM (in response to Girlwerks)Look at my site: http://www.chamoismoon.com On the Index page,
under "Last Update:" near the bottom are initials. These are client
portfolios. In Dreamweaver, I linked these initials to the Index of
the slide shows in the appropriate folders in the Assets file. Then
I chose to have them open in Blank pages since they are not part of
the main site.
It is also possible to upload to your site without a visible link.
Upload the slide show and then send the link to the client. For
instance: http://www.chamoismoon.com/Pope/Pope/index.html
Don't create a page on your site to upload to. The pages were
already created in the Bridge then saved to a specific folder in your
site folder.

teximexi Mar 8, 2010 8:03 AM (in response to davemachews)I have Dreamweaver CS4. All my permissions are set to 755. I created my galleries with Bridge CS4, When I upload them tthrough the Put function in Dreamweaver all the files are uploaded. However, when I view the website on any computer other than the one where the pictures are stored I get a blank screen. In Dreamweaver I see the path for the files showing up as my local drive. This is not in the code it is up under the toolbar area next to the page name that I have open. Any suggestions? I have the whole CS4 Design Premium Suite. Should I be using something else to create my gallery? My webhost is www.fatcow.com. I am using Windows 7.
-
39. Re: Bridge CS4 and Web Gallery upload - blank page issue
gbaerial Mar 8, 2010 8:47 AM (in response to teximexi)With Dreamweaver CS4 you have to upload the Images Folder with the
Gallery. What's happening is that the Gallery knows where the images
are on the machine you used to upload the files, however, if you
haven't uploaded the Images folder, the Gallery just has titles to
work with on other machines. It can't find the images.
What I do is create a link from a page on my website to the the Index
in the Gallery Folder which is in the Assets Folder in Dreamweaver.
I upload the page with the link, then I upload the entire Gallery
Folder which also contains the Images Folder.
