yes I mean a loupe.
Aperture uses the GPU (Core Image) for its calculations. Do you know wether Windows Vista has similar capabilities?

klsteven-vBdprK Dec 15, 2005 12:30 AM (in response to klsteven-vBdprK)Thanks for the link, Ian.
But the only thing they are talking about - as far as I understand -
is that the GPU will be used for the Windows userinterface (Aero Glass Look). But will the GPU be used to do image calculations like it does on the Mac? I´m not an expert, but I can imagine, that the loupe in Aperture for example is only possible in realtime by using a really fast graphics card. Could this be done in Vista, too?

There are other loupes that don't require you to upgrade your hardware - look at iView 3.01 and its lightbox. -

john beardsworth Dec 15, 2005 10:12 AM (in response to klsteven-vBdprK)It's not as sexy as Aperture's loupe over the film strip. You select up to 4 thumbnails and then enter the lightbox mode. This isn't particularly awkward, especially as you have access ratings/labels and can cycle onto other images. It works well and quickly on raw files. -

troyhark Jan 1, 2006 4:33 PM (in response to klsteven-vBdprK)I got really excited by the features ofered by Aperture and seriously considered buying a Mac just to use them. A shame they screwed it up so incedibly badly in other areas. Still showed how primitive and lacking the Bridge interface is though. Still the best [in many ways] of a ropey bunch though.

Aperture gets a thorough dismantling.

and this is the follow up.
This is quite a Mac friendly site, so review upset a few peeps.
