Preferences? profiles maybe?
Is there a way to refresh the cached images in the organizer?
Let me see if you can make me understand your post.
First of all, I'm going to assume that you mean " then" both times you type " than".
What does " DNG pic." mean?
>the box w/lightning rod
What are you talking about? What " box w/lightning rod"?
What do you mean by " loading the preferences"?
Even if I assume you're on Windows (which you didn't specify), none of the above makes any sense to me.
Nor does " the preferences for Pentax K10D".
Help me out here.
DNG refers to the format that is designated when pictures are loaded into PSE6 organizer directly from the memory card.
See:http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/DNG_Profiles. Sorry, used preferences in error.
The 'lightning rod box' refers to a picture that did not transfer properly into organizer. This box indicates a 'broken picture, thus the picture does not show up but in place of it is this 'box'
Yes on Windows.
I know darn well what a DNG file is. It's " DNG.pic" that makes no sense.
"Lightning rod" would be a straight vertical line.
If you're thinking of a zig-zag line that reminds you of lightning (i.e. a lightning strike) the only thing that comes to mind is a broken icon, indicative of a damaged file, as in a corrupted file:
If you could shows a screen shot, it would help.
Upload your screenshot to the FTP site of your choice or use the free

switched back to 4.2. none of the problems now that came w/5.1
Dale, at times, Ramón can be picky about the wording used.
I guess that instead of seeing a thumbnail, you were seeing an icon indicating that the file can't be thumbnailed.
You would be missing a lot by going back to 4.2 (that is a very old version, even for 4.X)
Please stick around, and tell us what is your machine specifications, etc.
" Wording"? Pierre, that was pure gobbledygook.
If I had to guessSince I have to guess, my gut feeling is that Dale did not install ACR 5.1 correctly. Maybe he didn't even unzip the downloaded file. Or he put it in the wrong location.
Ramon, you are off base. It was installed correctly & unzipped. I was able to use it as normal w/RAW but when I clicked 'Done' or moved it to 'Full Edit' than saved, that is when the 'corrupt' file image appeared. W/4.2 that came w/PSE6, all worked as it should. The Corrupted file in 5.1 saved as DNG. Also, in 4.2 the thumbnail saved as DNG. Useing Windows XP Pro.
