Have just installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 on to Vista, but have compatibility issue between Windows Vista and Photoshop Elements 4.0 States that an Update is available that solves this problem ? Went to update page but didn't know what to install, under what heading etc ? Many thanks
I'm not aware of an update for Photoshop Elements 4.0. But there is an update for Photoshop Elements 5.0. I would ask about this over in the Photoshop Elements Forum at http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.3bbb4ab0/
Have same problem though so far programme seems to work okay. Is one of the updates on the web site appropriate or do we have to upgrade to 5.0?
Is there a Photoshop Elements 4.01 for Mac for Camera raw 4.0?
Sorry, Zeb, I'm not quite sure what you are asking.
There is a Camera Raw 4.0 that works in Photoshop Elements 4.0 for Mac. You can find that version of Camera Raw at
I don't know of an Elements 4.01. But the folks over in the Photoshop Elements Forum ( http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.eeb4f8b/ ) might have more info about that.
Hi JC, from your first link; quote;
-The Camera Raw 4.0 plug-in requires Photoshop Elements 4.01 on Mac in order to load successfully.
-Installing the Camera Raw 4.0 plug-in for use with Photoshop Elements 4.01 on Mac will prevent Photoshop CS2 from accessing the Camera Raw plug-in on the same computer.
I asked in the PSE forum but there's not much traffic in there.
I've been looking at the new downloads page for PSE 4.0 Mac updates but I can't see anything listed.
I can't get it to work in v4.0 so I thought I'd ask.
I don't remember that. Let me go ask around.
In order to use the new plugin in Photoshop Elements 4, you will need to run the 4.0.1 Updater. Support for this version of ACR is the ONLY feature of the 4.0.1 updater.
Unfortunately, the new ACR plugin came out before we could get the PSE 4.0.1 updater out, so we need to do a workaround for the time being.
Until the Updater gets posted (which we expect to be on or before May 20), you can use the converter to convert your Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8 files to RAW, then use them in the program.
The Converter can be found at: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3604
Sorry for the delay between the ACR posting and the PSE Mac updater posting.
Hi Mark. Thanks for posting that info.
Thanks to both of you for that explanation. I'll add a link in my PSE post to Mark's post.
I'll ask a question about CS2's bridge and PSE4.01 and ACR4.0 after the PSE 4.01 Mac updater is posted. Hope they all play together nicely. :)
Just for information....
I have Elements V4 on WinXp - at least that's what About Photoshop Elements reports. I've never run any updates. ACR 4, which works just fine for me.
Yes, this issue is specific the Photoshop Elements 4 Macintosh. The technical issue here is ACR 4.0 is a universal binary, and Elements 4 Macintosh needs an update in order to load the PPC half of universal binary plug-ins.
This issue will affect other plug-ins to Elements 4 Macintosh as they get updated to be unversal binaries (to be compatible with Photoshop CS3).
