Art, if you have not already, I would suggest asking this in the Bridge and/or Lightroom Forums. I'm not aware of a way to change the date created. But maybe the folks there have some ideas. Maybe a standalone EXIF editor? I've never tried that.
Google "file creation time editor" and pick your tool...
I'd try it on copies of the originals...
Lightroom has an Edit Capture Time command that can shift the time by a set number of hours.
However, my understanding is that EXIF data is read-only, so the original time in the raw file itself can never be changed. If you edit the capture time in Lightroom, I think the change exists in the Lightroom database (not in the file) and won't be seen in other programs unless you export the raw as a DNG file. I haven't tested it out that far, so if you don't already have Lightroom you should download the 30-day trial and test this against the programs in your workflow before buying it.
