Are you getting error messages, or everything just sits there?
When I go to open a NEF file in elements it's just not recognised/supported.
I've tried it with version 3.2, 3.6+DNG, 3.6 alone & none of them seem to work.
Just a couple of questions:
Is the Nikon plug-in installed? If it is that can cause a problem.
Did you get rid of the older version of Camera Raw? It cannot be anywhere in the Elements folder path.
Are you SURE you've installed it correctly? In Elements, Help/about plug-ins/camera raw; what version is reported?
I've uninstalled the Nikon picture project & deleted all other elements downloads other than the 3.6 that is in the plug in/file formats folder & still no luck.
When I go into help/about plug-ins/... there is no camera raw option?!
Then you have not installed Camera Raw correctly. If you had, it would be listed in the About Plug-ins. Check your installation, there are specific instructions on the download page. Incidentally, you might as well get Camera Raw 3.7 and it is the most recent and last version that will be compatible with your Photoshop Elements.
Another thing to be aware of is that Nikon installs a plug-in that is supposed to work with Photoshop (I'm not sure about Photoshop Elements, I'm not a Nikon user). But that plug-in interferes with Camera Raw and will not allow it to run. Sorry I cannot be more specific. That's just information I have gathered from following the discussions.
