Which video card do you have?
The 8000 NVidia 8800GT is currently getting a bad press over at MaxFixit.
I have the NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT.
MacFixIt are terrible scare mongerers, so I would take what they say with a healthy dose of 'raised quizzical eyebrow'.

Maybe. but when you hit problems, it is interesting to discover that others have found the same thing and that particular hard- or software seems to be implicated.
At least it helps one to zoom in on the likely culprit.
Also, they have saved me many times from prematurely installing an upgrade that is subsequently proved to be so bug-riddled that it has to be pulled and re-posted a few days later.
Apple's "Security Updates", for one, have not had a good track-record over the last year.
I do believe it is a long time known bug that still is not fixed and has nothing to do with safari or video card.
If you use ACR using Bridge the read out panel shows flickering numbers unless you press the mouse it holds (only if you do so with the pipet tool the WB changes and if you press space bar the hand tool has the numbers steady but hard to get accurate)
But using ACR hosted by Photoshop shows the steady numbers in every situation :-)
i the pipet tool
= eyedropper tool :)
>the pipet tool = eyedropper tool
damn! still waiting for that translation pdf for the multi language version... :-)
thanks again Ramón!
But "pipette" is so much less verbose.
And really more appropriate too because it is sucking-up the color that it samples.
Yeah, but "pipet" for pipette brought a smile to my face. :D
