The ACR update for Photoshop will never be immediately available for the menu 'Help=>Updates". When ACR4.4 was released there was an implication that the 'help-update' would be available the next week, but I believe the problems associated with this version and its DNG converter may have affected "how it's supposed to work".
Regarding whether the problems affect you, see this information:
If you absolutely need to update for (eg) using a new camera, you can download from here:
Read the installation instructions carefully!
Thanks so much for the information. I think I will till Adobe solves their issues.
Laverne, ACR 4.4 is not available via Help>Updates.. at the moment. Note that if you manually update, in the future you won't be offered the update via "Help>Updates..", you will have to continue to update the plug-in manually, unless, of course, you reinstall photoshop.
I'm trying to download the Mac version of 4.4.1 Camera Plug-in for CS3 but nothing happens when I click on the Download Now tab. I've tried in both Safari and Firefox. Desperate and eager to hear your feedback! Thanks, Mimi.
You must be logged in to the site and you have the click several times on download, just scroll down in the window to look for the new button that appears after you pushed the first. Read the content and instructions of the pages and it will all be clear :-)
I have Photoshop CS3 but I,m not sure which version of ACR I have. I know ACR v4.4 is out, but I'm not sure if I need it, since I don't know which version I have. Also, how can I edit .jpg files in ACR? Anyone? Thanks.
go to Help - About Plug-ins. Then select Camera Raw. A splash screen will show it's version.
To enable Jpeg in Camera Raw, set it in Preferences.
Thanks. this is a big help.
