Highlight the image in Bridge and then press Cmd+O.
Thanks Jim, but it just opens in Camera Raw. I tried deleting all my preference files and Camera Raw had the "open jpg & tif" in Camera raw checked again when it started up.
I'll let it go a bit in case someone has another suggestion. Sure hate having to reinstall Photoshop. And if that doesn't work... :-(
I have never used a Mac, so I probably will not be any help to you. But in Photoshop itself, in the preferences, do you have the "prefer camera raw" option checked? I have it on in Bridge, but off in Photoshop.
Jim, I have been on the phone with Adobe support since I posted my last message (a long time!) The tech agent just discovered the option in Photoshop preferences and I came back to post the solution to the problem.
If I had waited for your answer I would have saved a lot of time!
Thank you for responding. Hopefully if someone else runs into it they will find this thread.
If you don't fix your install, try holding down the SHIFT key when you double click the image in Bridge as a workaround. That should take you directly into Photoshop.
