Charles, you can reach this when you convert the Raw files as a Smart Object in ACR.
At the bottom in the ACR Window is a blue line (like a link), if you click on this you can choose between several options. In here put a checkmark on the open as smart object option
I'm somewhat uncertain that this is what is intended, I'll need to run through a mock trial run to see if this would work. What I expected was ACR to open when DClk a smart object layer. By the way, I can ONLY open ACR from Bridge. The plugin is installed correctly. To be clear, for me, you're saying before I begin the work in CS3 I need to convert the images to smart objects in ACR (I reviewed the "Link" you kindly pointed out; didn't know anything was under there.). Not sure what difference it would make if I chose to convert them via Layer>Smart Object>Convert To Smart Object, but I will try what you suggest.
My thanks for your time and recommendation.
You can test it simple. Open a Raw file trough ACR and open it normal. Then open the same Raw file again in ACR but now as a smart object.
Clicking on the last gives the opportunity to change the settings again in ACR clicking on the first does not. Converting an already processed file as smart object in PSCS is not the same as converting it through ACR.
You can also choose the PS menu file- open as smart object and choose a Raw file. :-)
Did what you suggested and it worked exactly as you described. That's Great! No that is not great; having someone at the other end of this connection who is willing to help out, now THAT is great.
Now is get to work (play) to find out what these Smart Objects can do. Also need substantial practice with the Pen tool, and Layer masks, and Quick masks, and Alpha channels, and... and... and
Thank you Omke,
Till we meet again,
Have fun! :-)
