Are you ABSOLUTELY sure that the ONLY version of Camera Raw you have on your system is the most recent 3.7 version? You don't, for example, have ANY OTHER version loaded in any other location such as Photoshop plug-ins?
If you don't see Camera Raw in the list it usually means that it is not in the correct folder or the it might be damaged.
It looks like you listed the correct folder at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS2\File Formats
When you navigate to that folder do you see Camera Raw.8bi listed? It might only say Camera Raw, depending on how you have Windows set up.
Did you restart Photoshop after putting the filter into the File Formats folder?
Yes, John, I do see Camera Raw.8bi listed, and it is in the same location as above, and I did reboot and restart Photoshop.
Strange thing is that the Adobe Bridge works fine, and I can see edit/camera raw preference with version 3.7, so it is reading it.
Jeff, I did a search for the Camera Raw.8bi file in the entire Program files directory and the file I listed above is the only copy there. No other duplicate anywhere. Since the Adobe Bridge camera preferences shows version as 3.7, I think I do have the correct version.
Have you tried resetting the Photoshop Preferences?
Hold down CTL-Alt-Shift while launching Photoshop and it should ask you if you want to delete the Preferences file.
You might want to make a backup copy of your Photoshop...prefs.psp file if you want to go back to your prefs file, as deleting the prefs will revert a number of settings (scratch disk, units, memory, etc.) back to defaults.
ummm... when I do ctrl alt shift when launching photoshop, what I get is just a dialog box for memory preferences. And doing a search, there is no prefs.psp file on my c drive. I have just installed Photoshop recently.
Here is a tech doc that lists the preferneces file locations for CS2
I checked the doc and deleted general settings/Adobe Photoshop CS2 Prefs.psp. In the registry there were entries for both 3.0 and 3.7 and I deleted 3.0 entry.
I still could not see Camera Raw in the plug-in list.
I am now re-installing the entire photoshop cs2 software package.
