1. Re: CS3 uninstaller didn't remove everything
MichaelKazlow Feb 8, 2009 8:46 PM (in response to DavidB3)It probably would have been better to run the CS3 uninstaller first.
However, if you ran the uninstaller you should be able to remove the
remaining folders and their contents.

2. Re: CS3 uninstaller didn't remove everything
DavidB3 Feb 8, 2009 9:08 PM (in response to DavidB3)I didn't uninstall CS3 first because I have an upgrade version of CS4 and assumed I needed to have CS3 installed to use it.
What is the best way now to avoid any problems in the future? Uninstall CS4, reinstall and uninstall CS3, then reinstall CS4?

3. Re: CS3 uninstaller didn't remove everything
MichaelKazlow Feb 9, 2009 6:42 AM (in response to DavidB3)You need not re-install and uninstall CS3. You could just try to
re-install CS4.

Neil_Keller Feb 9, 2009 7:39 AM (in response to DavidB3)David,
Upgrades are complete installs -- you do not actually need the previous version installed, just its serial number.

5. Re: CS3 uninstaller didn't remove everything
DavidB3 Feb 10, 2009 11:23 AM (in response to DavidB3)Thank you for your reply. In the meantime I called Adobe support, who told me to do the following:
1. Deactivate CS4
2. Uninstall CS4
3. Run CS3Clean Script (level 2 three times, level 4 three times)
4. Restart computer
5. Reinstall CS4
I don't like using up my activations this way, although I am fairly confident I won't use anywhere near 20, but this sounds like the cleanest solution.

6. Re: CS3 uninstaller didn't remove everything
DavidB3 Feb 10, 2009 2:53 PM (in response to DavidB3)I forgot to add that Adobe support said I had to deactivate and uninstall CS4, then run CS3Clean Script, because I also received an error message when I opened Illustrator. (The application wouldn't open because some support files weren't installed.) They said that just reinstalling CS4 without completely deleting CS3 would not work to fix this.
Whether it's true or not, I am taking the easy, if tedious, way out and following their advice.

ActionStu Dec 21, 2011 7:51 PM (in response to DavidB3)David,
I'm currently having a similar issue. Did following all of Adobe's recommended steps remove all of the CS3 files?
Thanks!
Stu
