Can't open previous editions of a PDF document

I had to download Digital Editions 1.5, to download a PDF document. (The seller's site won't let me use Adobe Reader.) The downloaded doc is a reference doc and I have previous editions of it stored on an external drive.

When I try to open the previous editions, Digital Editions will only open the most recent one.

How do I open previous editions of a PDF document, when I'm required to use Digital Editions?

System Info:
IBM dual processor Z-Pro workstation, 2 gigs of RAM, XP Pro.

David,

I'm not sure I completely understand what you're saying here. If you copy all the editions over to your hard drive (to avoid any network drive issues) and you open -any- of them you always get the most recent one?

Of course, I don't purport to know all the features of pdf ebooks, so maybe this is just something I never heard of before.

I'll ping engineering, see if this is a legit possibility..
