1. Re: Color and FrameMaker
Seanb_us Dec 4, 2000 1:03 PM (in response to Seanb_us)Color Inconsistencies
When you generate your book, you get color inconsistency error messages.
- Close all chapters except your book.
-
- Open one chapter that has colors just the way you want them. Or, if you don't care, open a chapter that is not generating an error.
-
- Highlight the book file so it has the focus.
-
- In the book window, highlight all the chapters in your book. (Ctrl+A)
-
- Select File > Import > Formats.
-
- Select only the Color Definitions, deselect all other format choices.
-
- Select the open chapter in the Import from document drop-down list box.
-
- Click Import to import the color definitions from the selected source document into the book and all chapters.

Seanb_us Mar 15, 2001 11:08 AM (in response to Seanb_us)CMYK from FrameMaker in Windows
FrameMaker uses the Windows GDI for printing color to PostScript. Thus, FrameMaker in Windows is limited to the RGB output permitted by every Windows OS.
- EPS-format graphics maintain CMYK values and are unaffected by Windows.
-
Thus, to pass CMYK color to PS print files from FrameMaker in Windows, use EPS graphics.
- Other than that, you need a third-party color utility that will support your need to get CMYK out of the Microsoft Windows environment.
-
- Checkout ColourChameleon at http://www.grafikhuset.dk.
-
ColourChameleon lets you remap the RGB colours in the postscript output
to Pantone Spot or to CMYK as you require. It then makes the PDF with
the correct colours.
Thanks to Arnis Gubins for the info.
