Publish Server password can't be 'seen'

I'm sure there must be an incredibly easy answer to this question but...

Though my site works fine I can't seem to find any way to access what my Publish Server's password is so I can share it with someone that needs to upload files to my site.

I've looked in Keychain Access and can't find anything.

And I've looked in 1Password and the number of characters in the password difffers from the number of dots in the password in my GoLive settings. And when I do a test using Transmit using the password in 1Password (i.e. the characters that are visible... not dots) Transmit won't complete the connection.

I want to give my client (whom I trust completely) my password so he can use Transmit to upload files that are several hundred MBs.

      I'm currently using GLCS2 with 10.5.3.

Again... I'm sure this must be easy but...

      Thanks for any help.

I don't know of a way to recover that info as plain text from GoLive :-/

            Thanks for posting Nate.

Wow... I would have thought there would have been a way to view/recover it.

Guess I'll have to contact my web host tomorrow and have them email me it.

            Thanks again.

It would be better to set an extra FTP account for your client and give them that password. Most hosting that is more than basic allow for extra FTP accounts. It also should be easy to do a lost pw recovery or new pw within your cpanel or even just change it.

                Thanks Tony.

I called my web host and they were nice but unhelpful so I simply logged into my admin page on their site and updated my password (the one I knew it probably was according to 1Password). I then deleted it and re-entered it as GoLive's Publish Server's password and voila!

The strange thing is that GoLive has been working fine. The reason why I say this would be too tedious to explain though, but it involves the attempts I made in getting the same password to work in various ways.

Under normal circumstances you're absolutely right in that it is never a good idea to give someone else your password. It's just that this client has been a friend for a very long time and is totally trustworthy (I'd trust him with my life).

                Thanks again for the post.

Strange that Adobe never made it possible to retrieve/view a password once it is entered (i.e. via OSX admin password at least).
