Kurt Lang Oct 31, 2008 8:53 AM (in response to Kurt Lang)Thanks for the responses. I kind of figured that wouldn't be a common thing. Having just installed the CS4 Creative Suite just a couple of days ago, I can't imagine it would need to be reinstalled. Hmm. -

Wade S Zimmerman Oct 31, 2008 9:46 AM (in response to Kurt Lang)Trash your settings folder in the User preferences or hold down the command option shift key on relaunch of AI. -

Kurt Lang Oct 31, 2008 9:54 AM (in response to Kurt Lang)Thanks for the suggestions, Wade. Tried holding the launch keys first, then dumped then entire Illustrator CS4 preferences folder. No luck on either. -
6. Re: Possible CS4 bug
Kurt Lang Oct 31, 2008 10:56 AM (in response to Kurt Lang)Did just now try reinstalling AICS4. No help. I did accidentally discover though that I can at least clear the box just by pressing the Esc key. Still don't know why it won't show anything. I can only think it's a display issue of some sort with my particular video card. If that's the case, why just the one dialogue box? -

Kurt Lang Nov 8, 2008 11:09 AM (in response to Kurt Lang)Got it. Problem was on this end. Did an archive and install of Leopard, reapplied all updates and all is working as expected. -

Believe it or not, it depends on not only what ICC profiles are on the system, but also where !
I don't like having duplicate profiles all over the system. I mean, how many copies of Adobe RGB, sRGB and others do you need? So I cleaned house, leaving only one copy of each in the /Library/ColorSync/Profiles/ folder. As soon as I did that, the blank info field in Illustrator returned. It also affects the Adobe CS4 Extension Manager. The whole main interface will come up blank for the same reason.
It shouldn't make a darn bit of difference where an active profile is, but it does for these two apps. The Adobe RGB and sRGB profiles must be in the /System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/ folder, or you get the blanked out fields. Put them back, and everything instantly works normally again. -

Kurt Lang Dec 20, 2008 9:05 AM (in response to Kurt Lang)Minor correction. Neither app cares about the presence of the Adobe RGB profile. Of the two, only "sRGB Profile.icc" must be in the /System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/ folder. Not sure about the default generic profiles that are in the same folder. I left those there.
