    what are _org files?

    K.T.Frog
      Hi All
I've just uploaded a bunch of .jpg files to my website using Dreamweaver 8 from my local Windows XP machine. I notice that for every file there is also another file called filename.jpg_org. This is both on the local folder and the remote website.
I'm always uploading jpg's and have not had this happen before.

      An example
original file is called "page_01_of_21.jpg" and is 184KB in size
extra file is called "page_01_of_21.jpg_org" and is 154KB in size
These files are on the web site, but there is no link to the extra file, it just sits there!

Why did Dreamweaver make these extra files and can I delete them to save space?

      Thanks
      K.T.

          Dreamweaver doesn't make those files.

Those extra files are backups created by another application. You can safely
            delete them.

a google turns up info about Quick EXIF Writer using that file extension to
              archive original files it processes.

Are you using that or something similar to process the images?
Dreamweaver is not creating the .jpg_org files.

Thanks Alan, that's very clever of you - its exactly what I did. They did not show up in the Dreamweaver view of my local files because that view was not refreshed I guess.
Anyway thanks to you all again
K.T. (who is happily going off to delete umpteen _org files:)
