1. Re: How do you arrange several open windows automatically?
rcraighead Jun 4, 2008 8:21 AM (in response to luciele)No built-in way in AI (that I know of), but you could use exposé (default shortcut is F10) to see all the current application windows at once. It's just temporary, but it may work for you. -

luciele Jun 4, 2008 9:08 AM (in response to luciele)Thanks a lot, that's a good tip. I'll try that. -

(JerronSmith) Jun 6, 2008 9:13 AM (in response to luciele)Try Window>Tile
or does that work only on a PC. -
4. Re: How do you arrange several open windows automatically?
BlockBird Jul 10, 2008 3:20 AM (in response to luciele)Exposé shows ALL open windows. I'm trying to view two Illustrator windows, tiled and side-by-side. This feature seems to be nonexistent in AI CS3 for Mac and is wasting a load of time while I proof revisions made to an original document. Any more bright ideas would be appreciated. -

(IanMcPherson) Jul 10, 2008 3:39 AM (in response to luciele)BlockBird,
Have you tried arranging the 2 windows on top of each other and switching between the two quickly with cmd+` (tilde) ?
I find this way helpful for spotting differences in two files.

Thanks for your tip, it's very useful.
To Jerron Smith:
I think Window > Tile might be a Windows thing only, as I can't see that option in the menu. -

Exposé will show ALL windows or just the current application. Default shortcuts are:
F9 All windows
F10 Current Application windows
F10 puts two AI windows side-by-side for me. -
8. Re: How do you arrange several open windows automatically?
BlockBird Jul 14, 2008 11:32 AM (in response to luciele)You're right, Ray. (The shortcuts are set in System Prefs; mine are different.) The problem is you can't go from one window to the other and keep them tiled while you work -- such as copy from one and paste into the other.
I don't know why "Window > Tile" was taken away from Macs... I remember it from my Pagemaker days, before System X (yeah, in the dark ages).
Expose doesn't "work" quite as well. -

rcraighead Jul 15, 2008 5:39 AM (in response to luciele)I agree. I'd like to see its return as well.
