    Fade Behavior image

    hrggroup

      Hello again.

If someone could help me, it would be appreciated. I am trying to do the following in my
home page. Have no idea if it would be possible, hopefully without using Flash.

I am using the shrink behavior in Dreamweaver CS3. What I would like to do is have my logo
fade. What I am hoping to do is, once the logo fades, visitor can click on text ENTER to enter the site.
The way it works now is pointless, it just goes to the news page and you don't appreciate the effect
no matter what behavior I use.

Can someone help me with this please? Would appreciate it, thanks in advance.

Splash pages are a mistake. Please reconsider the use of this (cheesy)
effect, and just take your visitors directly to your home page. People surf
to get information, not to have a spiritual experience. If they want to be
entertained, they'll go to the movies, you know?

Another reason not to use splash pages is that you waste the most important
page in your site to something that has no meaningful content other than
"enter". Put words on this page that tell people why they should spend time
on your site, and what you are going to do for them - your search engine
          rankin will soar!

          > and you don't appreciate the effect no matter what behavior I use.

I got news for you. Anyone using your site will bookmark the 'enter'
landing page and will never see your effect again. Others will see your
effect and decide not to stay. You gotta grab them or it will be too late.
Your effect, no matter how skillfully executed, won't do that. You can't
make up for lack of content with cosmetic 'fluff'.

Thank you. I appreciate your input & suggestion. You're 100%
specially since it would be on home page.

Another question. The site is music related, so I was also wondering
how I could place a little radio button on the page. Something
that the visitor can turn the music off if they like.

Also was hoping to use a Flash Player for audio music but again
have no idea on how to find them or place them on the site.

            Thanks again.

You're getting closer. Now revise your plan to have a button so visitors can
turn the music ON. IOW don't force music on the visitor. Offer it, but don't
              force it.

              Try this player: http://www.wimpyplayer.com/
