Scott Falkner Dec 4, 2008 2:49 PM (in response to (James_Horsmann))All of us are InDesign users, so it's a safe bet that few of us use FrameMaker and know what the hell you're talking about. -

IDEAS-Training Dec 5, 2008 5:43 AM (in response to (James_Horsmann))Sidehead areas would need to include the ability for ID to span the sidehead and columns. If we ever see that feature, you may see sideheads.
In the mean time, there are work-arounds using indents and using one-cell tables to replicate having text only in the sidehead area.
It would be nice to have run-in paragraphs too. -

peter at knowhowpro Dec 5, 2008 7:39 AM (in response to (James_Horsmann))In addition to David's points, ID paragraph styles don't have FrameMaker's ability to straddle (span) multiple columns.
If you add your request for these features to the wish list, you'll increase the chances that a future ID version would have these great abilities. Here's the link:

That's what I meant--thanks for clarifying. -

FieryPantone Jun 27, 2013 1:07 AM (in response to peter at knowhowpro)Alerted to this post by an auto-reference in the FM forum … and I happened to be talking to an ID user about just this last week. Does ID now have sideheads? knowing Peter's expertise, I feel I can confidently ask this question without farther explanation or apology :-}

peter at knowhowpro Jun 27, 2013 5:31 AM (in response to FieryPantone)I know nothing more than you di, Niels.
ID does not offer FM-like side headings. Nor run-in paragraphs. Nor table footnotes. Nor the abiliity to capture footnote auto-numbers in cross-references. Some others, too.
This is the time to file formal product feature enhancements.
