ID CS4, but I'm pretty sure this is not related to version
My standard paragraph style hyphenation is 'after 3' and 'before 3'. This works reasonably well. In some cases, however, I find that a long word (e.g. 'altogether') for which there is no acceptable hyphenation according to those rules*, prevents good spacing.
In such cases, I'd like to be able enter a discretionary hyphen in the disabled area of the word (thus: 'al~together'), and so permit hyphenation at that point.
Sometimes I wonder if it might not even be a good idea to also allow the document dictionary to override para style hyphenation.
*Note: My hyphenation oracle is New Oxford Spelling Dictionary.
