the most common cause would be using _root somewhere in the code of the loaded swf. if that's the cause, adding:
to the main timeline of the loaded swf solves the issue.
I'm not using _root anywhere in the code. This is an example of how I'm targeting:
It's supposed to replace text in a field that is part of the loaded .swf.
As I said it works as a stand alone movie but not when loaded into a parent movie. I am loading it in on _level0 now but I have tried loading it into a level other than 0 earlier.
I've set up examples so you can see. The first URL loads just the .swf, the second loads the .swf into a movieclip in blankMovie
I've tried using:
to reference and change the text field. None of them work when embedded and all of them work on the stand-alone .swf
are you using any components (like a textarea)? if so, add it to your _level0 swf's library.
i"m not using any components
then you may be failing to detect the selected text when some of your buttons are pressed.
I come to the forum with a vary similar problem... the actionscript within a loadMovieClip swf doesn't execute code. The twist is that it does work on if both the main file and linked swf are on the same server. It does not if they are on different servers.
